Listed here are five wedding dress trends to look for this year.

2012 has seen the return of the sleeves, a trend almost entirely related to Kate Middleton who wowed a worldwide television audience when she stepped in sleeves last April in her own wedding to Prince William.

"The royal wedding was watched by billions so she's had a tremendous effect," said Terry Hall, fashion director for Kleinfeld, the famous Nyc bridal emporium featured on TLC's "Say Yes towards the Dress." "As a result, we have seen a desire for the sleeves and today we're receiving a tremendous amount of requests."

"Definitely for a fun bride," Hall, of Kleinfeld, said from the look. "Not only could it be fun, but additionally if she's wearing a very fun shoe, you really get a chance to determine the shoe, especially when she's dancing."

"I think it's absolutely fun and it is very popular," he explained.

Trend Three: Unusual Headpieces

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian's marriage might have only lasted 72 days, but fashion experts say her selection of a jeweled headpiece has made an enduring dent within the bridal industry.

Brides 're going gaga over all types of retro headpieces, including fascinators and 1970sstyle headscarves.

"Headwraps are definitely in," said Molly Guy, from the Manhattan bridal showroom Stone Fox Bride. "There's something really beautiful and gypsylike about them, particularly when paired with some heavy eyeliner."

For a long time bridal gowns have flirted with a colored sash here, or perhaps a tinted ribbon there. But, this season, anticipate seeing more solid colored dresses in pinks, blues and even reds.

The sophisticated bride seeking to possess a runway moment of her very own when she walks on the aisle need look no further than the most recent collection by famed wedding dress designer Vera Wang that includes a series of black wedding dresses, each more dramatic than the last.

"I think brides desire to be themselves nowadays," Kleinfeld's Hall said of the trend towards color. "They're very confident, they're non conventional and they need to make a statement."
