When one thinks of Carolina Herrera

When one thinks of Carolina Herrera, the person, the words elegance and simplicity come to mind right away. This is the main design principle Carolina has used not only when designing her clothing line, but also when deciding what to wear on a night out on the town. Before she was a fashion designer, she was one of New York's most stylish women, and was even looked upon as being the best dressed woman in the world during the 70s and 80s, as celebrities constantly looked to her for fashion advice and ideas. Some of the most famous clientele she had the pleasure of working for include Renee Zellweger and Jacqueline Kennedy.

Because she had such a great following among many women due to her impeccable style, she continued to use this design principle when the Carolina Herrera fashion line was started in 1980. Her fashion line reached such great success, that she was awarded the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award in 2004, and in 2008 she was given the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

There are three different collections available. The signature Carolina Herrera fashion collection consists of mainly formal outfits (dresses and tops), and is looked upon as being the backbone of the entire brand. Carolina also has a bridal collection featuring some of the most exquisite bridal gowns, which have gained such an excellent reputation, that she was asked to develop a custom gown for the movie Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part 1, one of the top grossing movie franchises in history. Finally there is the CH Carolina Herrera collection which is described as a lifestyle brand, and this consists of more casual outfits that are comfortable for everyday wear.

Not only is Carolina's clothing business thriving, but she also has a very successful line of fragrances for both women and men. There is also a line of accessories available that features such items as an eyewear collection, handbags and belts.

Currently there are five flagship stores in the USA that carry the signature Carolina Herrera collection (also known as the Carolina Herrera New York line), and they are located in New York, LA, Dallas, Florida and Las Vegas. With the creation of the CH Carolina Herrera lifestyle brand, she has decided to open 70 exclusive stores featuring these more casual lifestyle products all across the world (USA, Europe, Middle East and Latin America), along with 150 smaller shopinshops. The CH Carolina Herrera stores have a very relaxed atmosphere in terms of the dcor in order to compliment the clothing being sold. It's still very elegant, but it's a very easy going atmosphere.

Although she is well known for using lots of neutral colors, she really does an excellent job experimenting with lots of bright colors for her Spring 2012 collection of dresses and outfits.
